At some point, every server owner comes to the realization that they want full control over every aspect of their server. They no longer want to depend on neighboring users, hosting providers, or their limitations. That is why many people switch to VDS or VPS solutions. The name may vary, but in essence, it is a full Linux server with nothing installed except the base system and terminal. Naturally, setting up a game server on such a system can be a challenge for many users. We offer a ready-made solution - installation and configuration of the Pterodactyl game server management panel.
Pterodactyl is the best game server management panel I have ever worked with. It is modern, open-source, regularly updated, and supports a large number of modules, extensions, and themes. The panel is built on a well-designed architecture using Docker containers, providing stability, security, and convenient management. You can read in detail about all the features and advantages of Pterodactyl online, and below I will briefly describe its main strengths.
- Supports a wide range of games, including CS 1.6, CS:GO, Minecraft, Rust, ARK, Garry’s Mod, and many others. Thanks to the “eggs” system (server installation scripts), server deployment is performed automatically, and the developer’s website contains eggs for almost any game. We also provide our own Counter-Strike 1.6 egg with a choice of ReHLDS and preconfigured major mods;
- Convenient web console, one of the best consoles available for managing game servers;
- Automatic server startup and restart, including automatic recovery if the server crashes;
- Flexible resource management. Each game server runs in its own isolated container, which improves security and allows more flexible allocation of resources;
- File and configuration management through the browser. However, we always recommend using FTP. This panel includes a secure SFTP server;
- Task scheduler (restarts, backups, command execution);
- Website deployment directly from the panel, allowing you to save money by not purchasing separate web hosting;
- Built-in database system. No modern game server can function properly without a connection to MySQL;
- User and permission management. You can even create your own small hosting service. Easily limit the resources allocated to each server so it cannot interfere with your own servers;
- Real-time server resource monitoring;
- Preconfigured FastDL for Counter-Strike 1.6.
What is included in the service?
- Installation of the Pterodactyl panel itself;
- Let's Encrypt SSL certificate for the panel;
- FastDL configuration;
- Web hosting configuration;
- Node configuration (the environment where game servers will be deployed, usually on the same virtual machine);
- Installation of the FunGun Counter-Strike 1.6 egg;
- A test server installed and configured to verify everything is working correctly.
Minimum System Requirements
At minimum, you will need one Linux virtual machine running Debian 12.
Everything else depends on how many game servers you plan to run, which games you want to host, and your budget. You can save as much as possible by running the website on the same machine as the game server, or you can separate them onto different servers. I can help you choose the best option for your specific needs. Contact me on Telegram: @SKAJIbnEJIb
