Frequently Asked Questions

Q What is Easy Cheat Detector (ECD) and how does it work?
A Easy Cheat Detector is a program designed to search a computer for traces of applications prohibited in the game.
ECD scans according to a cheat database in game memory, processes, drivers, the file system, registry, network activity, as well as download history.
All collected data is then sorted and sent as a report, which can immediately be viewed on the website.

Q What data does ECD collect and for what purpose?
A The data saved in the report may include the following information:
1. List of processes running on the user's computer
2. List of modules loaded into the game
3. List of drivers installed in the system
4. Servers to which the user is connected
5. Lists of detected prohibited programs and modules
6. Player information such as nickname, SteamID, etc.
The data is required to detect prohibited applications, drivers and modules that were not detected by the database.
All data is transmitted in encrypted form over HTTPS.
No personal data is collected or recorded in the report.
Additionally, processes, modules, drivers and other data are stored for no longer than 24 hours. They are needed only for administrator verification and will not be publicly visible.

Q Where can I download Easy Cheat Detector?
A Download only from the official website, and only from the official one!!
If someone sent you the file or you downloaded it from another source, there is a risk that your computer will be infected with viruses.

Q When is the best time to scan players?
A In the middle or at the end of the game. There is no point in scanning a player immediately after they join the server.
A player can join a server without cheats enabled, pass the scan, prove they are clean, and then easily enable cheats without restarting the game!
But if they already used cheats, then scanning makes sense. The scanner will find traces of cheats that were run and notify you about it.

Q What if a player refuses to be scanned?
A You decide how to deal with such a player according to your server rules.

Q Which OS versions does ECD support and what are the requirements?
A All versions of Windows are supported.
EasyCheatDetector.exe for Windows 7–Windows 11
WinXP-EasyCheatDetector.exe for Windows XP and Vista
No additional libraries are required; the application will run even on a clean system.
The application does not require OpenGL/DirectX, so it will run on any hardware.

Q The player says the file does not run.
A There may be three reasons:
1. The file is deleted by an antivirus application.
Solution: temporarily disable the antivirus during scanning or add EasyCheatDetector.exe to exceptions. Then inform ECD developers about which antivirus the player uses to prevent future issues.
2. An error appears when launching about incompatible Windows version.
Solution: download the correct version. EasyCheatDetector.exe for Windows 7 and above. WinXP-EasyCheatDetector.exe for Windows XP and Vista.
3. Cannot launch the program.
Reason: the user is likely trying to deceive the administrator. The program does not require any additional libraries and can run even on a clean system.

Q The player cannot access the website fungun.net, can they use ECD?
A Yes. The report can be saved even without an internet connection.
If there is no internet, the report is automatically saved to a file named report.ecd, which can be viewed using the EasyCheatViewer application.

Q What if I have a cheat that is not detected by ECD?
A If you want it to be added to the database, contact the developers and inform them about this cheat. If necessary, the developers will contact you for additional information.

Q Which games does ECD work with?
A The main game is Counter-Strike 1.6.
In compatibility mode, the following games are also supported: Counter-Strike Source, Counter-Strike GO, Counter-Strike 2, and all other games based on the HL/HL2 engines.

Q What does "Closed the game during scanning" mean?
A The player closed the game immediately after the scan started, likely to hide cheats from the scanner.
Some cheats have anti-debug protection, and since the scanner performs debugging of the process, such cheats like HPP, MIDNIGHT, etc. may force the game to close, and you will see this warning in the report.
